Summer 2006 “The Big Weekend“
A sell out crowd partied the weekend away in the Big Top in Galashiels. Saturday was a gloriously hot and sunny day and the crowd enjoyed some great music from Scottish Ska sensations – This R2 Tone, local folk and roll heroes – Scocha, Top UK Beatles Tribute band, The Counterfeit Beatles and up and coming Scottish band - Omniblob. Headlining the stage on Saturday was one of Scotland’s finest bands, Deacon Blue performing all their legendary hits. Sunday was hot and thundery but the great music kept coming from local band – The Border Boogie Band, Scottish “techno-ceilidh” sounds were provided by Shooglenifty, the 80’s were rekindled by the wonderful FourGoodMen, all original members of major Scottish Bands – Simple Minds, Big Country and H20 who pumped out classics including Love Song, Belfast Child and Dream to Sleep. Headlining the stage on Sunday were cult Irish band – The Saw Doctors, renowned for being one of the best live festival acts around who finished the weekend off in style.
As usual, “the BAR” kept people’s thirsts quenched throughout the weekend, providing an array of refreshments from their vast outdoor bar.
